What Does it Mean to Be a ‘Wild Child’?
Here, I wish to paint the picture of what ‘Wild Child’ means to me, what the metaphor represents in the context of my life and work.
When I Google wild child the results pull up a movie about a rich teen girl who’s out of control and has to be sent to boarding school. This is the typical definition of a wild child but this most definitely isn’t my vision of ‘Wild Child’. My vision isn’t of someone who has self-control issues, destructive behavior, or little concern for those around them. My vision doesn’t support being irresponsible or naive or childish. This would be the dark sides of a wild child. I’ve been there. I don’t recommend it for anyone and it’s certainly not what I represent here.
My vision is all about the light. I want to help you tap into your lovely innocence, your belief in magic, your wonder and awe. This is the part of yourself that, experiences joy in it’s fullest expression, sees the world anew with endless possibilities, and remembers how to play with life in the most beautiful way. It’s the part of you that was, very likely, squelched, shamed, brainwashed out of you and made to feel it has no part in the grown-up world.
I believe this forced abandonment, of our radiant selves, has led to detachment, unhappiness and addiction for many. She’s such a crucial part of our wholeness, our fulfillment, our gorgeous potential as women, as humans.
I want you to remember what it’s like to have an open heart, a mind that doesn’t already know everything, and eyes that search for beauty and enchantment everywhere.
The ‘Wild Child’ I want you to reconnect with comes alive with possibilities! She feels things fully. She trusts her deeper knowing which expresses itself beyond the ‘reality’ we’ve been taught to put our faith in. She’s a child of the Earth. She comes alive in nature because she’s of nature. This is where all magic lives. This is where all potential grows, full spirit, body and mind, blossom!
“You can fly! You have wings of such potential and power. You can bloom as completely as the most divine flower. You’re capable of so much more than the world has led you to believe.”
Our world has become lost. Humanity struggles with the prevailing mindset of a self-centered, destructive adolescent who thinks he knows it all and that life owes him.
There’re many awakening from the illusion of separation and opening their hearts to a new reality that is possible for us. Every one of us who’s feeling the shift, the call, the discomfort, the dissolving of the old paradigm, has an obligation to step into their full power. We’re all needed. But to have the strength to take a stand, you must remember what you’re fighting for.
Your Authentic Self
Your first step to changing the world is through
changing remembering yourself. Rediscover, reconnect, rewild yourself. Break the shackles of the illusion we’ve all been raised in. Remember who you truly are. Break free from the matrix, Neo. 😉
I want to see you excavate your gold, your gifts, your superpowers! Your ‘Wild Child’ holds the key. She is the key! She’s your essence. It’s time for you to go on an exploration for her. It may be easy for you or it may prove difficult. The terrain may be rocky. Reconnecting with her may turn your known world upside-down. You may need to be brave.
Whatever the situation, make sure to have support. Whether it’s a friend, a therapist, another coach or myself, please ask for help. You might experience pushback from those closest to you as you embrace new ways of thinking and being that make them feel uncomfortable. It’s important to have someone who understands and roots you on. You’ll need someone who wants to see you live your best life and has no agenda for you of their own.
It takes unconditional love to support in this way. I would be honoured to be that person for you, but whether you want to hire me or someone else, I’m here. I hope you’ll take advantage of any resources I provide because I honestly want this for you and for our world.
I would love to hear from you. Does any of this speak to you? Has anything come up for you as you read this? Do you feel fear, curiosity, inspiration?
